8 years and a very Happy Birthday

Mike proposed to me on his birthday after the wedding. It was magical and I'm SO glad that I said yes. Here's what we looked like 8 years ago...

Going to the chapel...

It was a gorgeous day for Jen and Chris's wedding yesterday. Perfect weather for some great friends! We had a blast and were so excited to be able to share their special day with them.

Since Jen and Chris both work with Mike, there was a ton of coworkers from the department there...it was a great party!

Congrats Jen and Chris!

Here are a few of my favorites from the past few days....Hopefully Evan will start feeling better soon...poor guy has had a snotty nose, cough, and congestion the past week. Today we are off to celebrate the wedding of Chris and Jen! Hope you have a great weekend too! Also, Happy Birthday Ryan!

15 months

Dear Evan,
15 months old! When did that happen?! It seems like yesterday you were a little newborn trying to figure everything out and now you are a toddler! You have so much energy and definitely don't want to miss anything. You love running and tackling mommy and daddy if we are laying on the ground. You love throwing toys over the gate and you are SO curious about everything. We are so excited to see what else you'll be doing and learning in the new few months (and years) to come. We love you so much!

Words that you say pretty regularly (I'm sure there are more that I am missing too)

bird
ball
bog (dog)
Jack
nigh-nigh
mama
da-da
pa pa
bye
bug
hi
what'sthat
up
that
yeah
no
tickle
oh
ticktock

You also know how to make noises like a monkey and bark like a dog. :)

Other happenings..
You can now eat with a fork and actually get some food in your mouth! You love scooping things out of bowls to get on the spoon/fork such as oatmeal or macaroni. You are getting really good at kicking a soccer ball and already have great form! You are definitely a thrower too. You throw anything and everything and are good at throwing balls with pretty good accuracy. You get so excited when we clap and say "dance dance". You will start jumping up and down and laughing trying to get your feet to work how you want them too. You smile and giggle when we sing and also love when mommy and daddy read to you. It's so cute when you go pick a book from your basket and bring it over to us, throw it in our lap, and then raise your hands up to sit on our lap. You now have 8 teeth with a few others trying to make their way through. You can also sign "milk" and "more" and we are working on a few others. You are wearing size 2T shirts and pajamas and size 12 month shorts. You are still in size 4 diapers and wear size 5 shoes, but I think you'll be in size 6 pretty quickly. You love to take your velcro sandals off and I'm still amazed that you keep a hat on if we put one on you! You are content just playing by yourself with your cars and balls, but definitely love company too. :) It's so cute watching you play with your trucks...you make a car noise and roll the car on the ground while one leg is up and the back leg is dragging...it's adorable watching you get excited when you see real cars driving down our road.

Happy 15 months sweet boy. We love you....
Love, mommy and daddy

Week 12: 10th grade

Sophomore year. 1994-1995. Loved this year...it was all about sports (again) and getting my driver's license and my 1st CAR!

Our basketball season was not so great. Since we were playing varsity teams for the first time since our school was so new (and we only had freshman-juniors) I don't think we did too terrible. We only won 4 games....we lost 22. Not great but at least we had fun. I loved playing with the girls on the team and we always had a great time during practice and traveling to and from games.
(I am in the back row, third from the left)

This series of pictures was in the yearbook and it is on my and my teammate Shalonda. We always would play against each other, one on one, and try to beat each other. It was always a great time and it definitely made us better point guards!

Our soccer team was awesome! We were ranked 9th in the St. Louis area (and that's without having seniors!) We were 15-1-7 and lost to Oakville in districts. I played sweeper again (last defender) and managed to score 5 goals and have 8 assists! I was named 1st team All-Conference, 1st team All-South, Honorable Mention All-Metro, and Honorable Mention All-Eastern district.

 During practice...
Yeah...did I mention that we TP'd our coaches house?!!!  It was awesome...we thought we were so slick...of course we weren't but we definitely had fun. We drove around his neighborhood "staking" the place out, waiting until we were sure him and his wife and their 4 little kids were sleeping. I know we were definitely loud....and got even louder when Coach walked outside! Ha!

Ahhh...great times and great memories!

This was the last year that I played softball. I loved it but just didn't have time anymore to play three sports during high school as well as my travel soccer team and keeping my grades up. We won 4 games and lost 15, but since most of the girls were also on the soccer and basketball team, we always had fun!

This year I also played in Powder Puff football game. The gals played football and the guys were cheerleaders! It was hilarious! (I am third from the left). I believe we won too! I also participated in National Honors Society and did Feed my People, worked at the Special Olympics for basketball and soccer and did a walk-a-thon. I was also a Peer Mentor again and loved it!

First car...an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. My dad and I were out of town for one of my club team (J.B. Marine) soccer tournaments. I think we were in Florida...not sure...I'll have to ask my dad. But we came home and my CAR was in the driveway! My mom got a great deal on this beauty ;) I remember that the ceiling fabric would flap open because there were some air holes and the radio was an old school push button radio. It was awesome! We could fit three in the front seat and 3-5 in the back! Before I actually had my license, my mom and dad would let me drive around our neighborhood by myself and over to my friend, Rob'n's, house which was the next street over. I got my driver's license at the end of the school year, May 21st, and flunked the first time. I couldn't parallel park to save my life and I think I ran a stop sign! oops! I took it again on the 25th and this time I had a little old lady as my instructor and did everything perfect...except for parallel parking. I hit the cone but I don't think she felt it or saw me do it. So...I passed with a 100%! ha! On the way home from getting my license, I was driving my mom and sister and stopped at a yellow light. I didn't think I was going to be able to make it through without it turning red...well, the next thing I know the car behind us hit us! I guess he thought that I was going to go through the yellow and was gunning it to get through too....so we pulled over and I'm bawling! I just got my license and got in my first accident in my "new" car. Of course there was no damage to the brown beauty, but I was so scared. Thank goodness it wasn't my fault and everyone was okay, but I did learn my lesson to make sure to always go through a yellow light! ;) (kiddin'!)

I had another busy, involved year!

Love my bro and sis! I was also super excited to get a Falcon blanket for Christmas (even thought it was the Atlanta Falcons emblem)...our school was the Falcons and it looked the same! :)

Wordless Wednesday (video style)

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Two on Tuesday...

  1. Please pray for my friend Laura and her mom...
  2. On Sunday, Sept. 19th the Race for the Cure 5K walk/run is going on in Columbia. Please consider joining our team to walk/run if you are in town or donating to help find a cure for cancer. Even though my Aunt Barb beat breast cancer twice, on May 18th she passed away from lung cancer...I miss her dearly and want to continue to help find a cure. My Aunt was always involved in helping find a cure for all cancers, so please consider helping our team out...Mick Deaver FOP.

Weekend Update

Friday we went to Menards to pick up a couple of hinges, Evan sat in a HUGE chair, and we ate at Lonestar with Jen and Chris. I can't believe they are getting married on Saturday! So excited for them! After dinner (where it poured) we left and saw a beautiful rainbow...

Saturday we headed to St. Louis early. We were supposed to go to Mike's college alumni soccer game, but the people who usually help us watch Jack were busy, so we didn't have anyone able to let him out Saturday evening/night and then again on Sunday morning. :( So...we didn't go to Greenville. We spent the day at my parents house celebrating Mike's birthday (which is on the 31st). It was a perfect day....

Sunday we headed to church this morning, Evan played in the toddler room and came home to take a 3 hour nap! Yes...3 hours! And that is after sleeping for 12 the night before! :) Wowzers! After his marathon nap, we headed to Laura and Geoffrey's house and then a quick run to Target. Now, I'm watching Gladiator and getting motivated to start my 2nd to last Master's class homework while finishing laundry. Mike is with a coworker and is running 8 miles tonight...they are preparing for a half marathon in a month! Hope you had a great weekend too!
